The prestigious International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IJTLD) appoints TB Alert’s Secretary, Professor Peter Davies, as Editor in Chief for Tuberculosis.
In his first editorial piece, in the August 2015 edition, Professor Davies reflects on the continued burden of tuberculosis, despite the Millennium Development Goal commitment to eradicate HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. He concludes that TB has been sidelined in favour of efforts to control HIV/AIDS and malaria, and reasons that we need to do more to counter low TB awareness and stigma to address this terrible disease.
No patient group of any age, or body part, is necessarily spared from this dangerous, disabling and deadly disease. We still need to educate our doctors, nurses and other health care workers as much as we need to raise awareness among the public.
