Trusts and foundations:

Partnering for a TB-free future

Trusts and foundations make a vital contribution to our fight against TB.

Your donations help us deliver an exciting range of projects both in the UK and overseas. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss how your trust or foundation could support our work and make a real difference to people whose lives are affected by TB.

Before I had TB, what did I know about TB?

I didn’t know much. I was somewhat aware that in the past a lot of people died from it.

Kanthamma:

A good neighbour leaps from awareness to action.

Following a TB awareness raising session to miners in Markapuram – an industry that increases the risk of TB – a mine worker recognised that their neighbour, Kanthamma, had been suffering from persistent TB symptoms for a long time.

Our project workers quickly reached out to her – saving her life.

Ganga Devi:

Early start for essential treatment.

Ganga works as a thread-cutter in an export factory, earning around Rs 2000 (£17) a month working 10 hours a day, six days a week. Despite her long working hours, Ganga is unwavering in her commitment to get her TB medication – thanks to TB Alert’s work, she knows the importance of completing her treatment.

Tuberculosis remains a significant challenge globally and is an important public health issue in the UK

Dame Sally Davies, former Chief Medical Officer England

We wouldn’t have been able to give her this much food. This has made her healthier and more able to do well in school.

Susheela, Aisha’s mother

We didn’t have tea to drink, but there was enough food to feed me and my wife and son. That made the process of getting through the tough times, much easier.

Amit

Philanthropy:

Empowering significant change

I have been on TB treatment for 18 months and I don’t know when it’s going to finish.

Vikram:

Surviving childhood TB-meningitis.

When Vikram’s parents arrived at the clinic with their 7-year-old son he was in critical condition, semi-comatose and suffering with seizures, high fever, and vomiting.

He had been diagnosed with TB meningitis. They were convinced their son would die – they could not afford his treatment.

Fortunately, thanks to TB Alert’s funding, they not only received free treatment but also the nutritional support necessary to get better. Against the odds, Vikram survived.

Pappu:

A life-saving move gives a young man a promising future.

When Pappu moved to Delhi from Rajasthan it saved his life. Back in Rajasthan, at just 13 years old, both Pappu and his father were diagnosed with TB yet neither received the treatment they needed.

Tragically, Pappu’s father died. Pappu moved in with his brother in Delhi and was put in touch with the DIVINE project where he received the life-saving treatment he desperately needed.

Now, at 18, he’s proudly learning to repair televisions and supporting himself.

Leave a lasting legacy:

Gifts in wills and in-memory giving

By leaving a legacy to TB Alert, you ensure we continue fighting TB and saving lives long after your lifetime.

A gift in your Will, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in our fight. Your support could help us work towards a future where TB is finally confined to history.

Previous legacy gifts have already helped us achieve so much, including:

saving lives of thousands affected by TB in Africa and India by ensuring they are tested, diagnosed, and cured

providing support and helping rebuild the lives of thousands of patients in the UK

successfully advocating for national strategies to tackle TB in the UK

How to leave us a gift in your Will:

Leaving a legacy gift is simpler than you might think:

State your wish in your Will to leave a gift to TB Alert. We recommend using a solicitor or professional Will-writer to ensure your Will is legal and valid, protecting your family too. It’s often more affordable than you might expect.

Include our full name and charity number: TB Alert, Registered Charity Number 1071886

You can amend an existing Will by completing a codicil document.

If you’ve already included us in your Will, please let us know! We’d love to thank you and discuss any specific wishes you have.

In-memory giving: Honour a loved one, fight TB

Giving in memory is a meaningful way to celebrate a loved one's life while supporting a vital cause.
You can support TB Alert in memory of your loved one by:

Collecting donations at a funeral service

Making a one-off or regular donation in their name

Holding a special event in their memory

How to make an in-memory donation:

Via the funeral director: Most funeral homes can organise in-memory donations and forward them directly to us. We will then inform you how much has been raised.

By post: Send cheques, payable to TB Alert, to: TB Alert, 22 Tiverton Road, London, NW10 3HL

Online: Make a donation or set up a dedicated in-memory giving page on JustGiving. This secure platform allows you to share stories, thoughts, and photographs of your loved one.

When writing your Will or arranging a funeral, please consider asking family and friends to make a donation to TB Alert in lieu of flowers.

Thank you.

Team TB were great. They gave us all the information about the run, running vests and advice on raising sponsorship.

They met us at the finish line with celebratory beers and refreshments. The run was great fun to do – such a buzz

I couldn’t think of anything I needed for my 70th birthday so I asked my friends to make a donation to TB Alert instead. I was astonished at their generosity and we raised £1,500. I had a great birthday too!

Paul

I wanted the opportunity to show my family that I can be strong again, that I can beat this; that TB is not going to debilitate me.
